Dr Hayes is a Doctorate level clinical neuropsychologist with extensive experience in the neuropsychological assessment of children, teens and adults with a range of conditions.

Her qualifications include Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) Hons 1, and  Combined PhD/Master of Clinical Neuropsychology from Macquarie University in Sydney. She is endorsed by the Psychology Board of Australia as a Clinical Neuropsychologist, and registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Dr Hayes is an approved supervisor for Clinical Neuropsychology higher-degree students and registrars for AHPRA.

Clinical Experience

Dr Hayes has worked in the public health system at hospitals in both Australia and Singapore. She has held positions with the Huntington’s Disease Unit at Westmead Hospital, the National University Hospital, Singapore, and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore (KKH).

Dr Hayes is currently employed as a Clinical Neuropsychologist at The Neuropsychiatric Institute at Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, and in 2023 was awarded Psychologist of the Year for the South Eastern Sydney Health District with nominations from both allied health and medical colleagues.

In terms of private practice experience, in Singapore Dr Hayes was a consulting neuropsychologist at Cognitive Health Consultancy International, and currently in addition to her hospital work, operates her own private practice on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

Teaching and Research

Dr Hayes’s PhD on the neuropsychology of Huntington’s Disease was conducted at the Macquarie Centre for Cognitive Science and was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Commendation for a PhD of exceptional significance.

She has several publications in peer reviewed journals. Dr Hayes held a visiting fellow position at the Department of Psychology at the National University of Singapore (NUH), where she was part of the clinical faculty who launched Singapore’s first Master’s degree programme in clinical psychology.

Dr Hayes taught both undergraduate and postgraduate modules in psychology at NUH, and postgraduate modules on neuropsychological assessment for James Cook University, Singapore.

At KKH her research focused broadly on the neuropsychology of epilepsy in children, and cross cultural aspects of neuropsychological assessment.

Currently Dr Hayes supervises students for the Master of Clinical Neuropsychology program at Macquarie University, and she delivers lectures for medical students and psychiatry trainees at Prince of Wales Hospital.

Dr Hayes’s current research interests broadly include the neuropsychology of epilepsy, the cognitive trajectory of psychiatric conditions, functional cognitive disorder, and cognitive remediation.
